About Us
Once a Georgian house set in seven acres of ornamental gardens, Burford House & Gardens is now home to Burford House Garden Store, a Café-Bar and Burford House shopping emporium. Perfect for all the family with a children's playground, ornamental duck pond and a magnificent wisteria covering the whole of the rear of the house. To the rear of the house, there are beautiful gardens which are free to enter and were originally the home of the National Clematis Collection until a period of neglect led to its decline. The gardens are now being lovingly restored by a group of volunteers, the 'Burford House Garden Angels'. The 4 acre garden was laid out in their current form by the late John Treasure in the 1950's and were once home to over 300 varieties of clematis. There are now over 290 varieties of clematis in the gardens with more still to be discovered.
At one point in the garden, where The Ledwych Brook meets the River Teme, is the spot where the three counties of Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Shropshire meet and if you search hard enough you can find the stone remains of an earlier Norman Castle.
Originally part of the estate, Burford Church can be found next door to Burford House and is itself worth seeing, particularly for a fascinating triptych (three boarded painting) beside the altar.

Burford House & Gardens in Tenbury Wells is a picture-perfect setting for Weddings and special events. The idyllic St. Mary's Burford Church sits next to Burford House and has been on the current site prior to the writing of the Doomsday Book. The Church as it stands today was completely restored in 1889. There are so many elements that come together to make the Burford House and Gardens a truly magical wedding venue.
